The are two main methods of teeth whitening; professional whitening at the dentist, or diy whitening at home with strips, toothpastes or gels.

Professional In-Office Dental Whitening

Teeth whitening at the dentist office provides the fastest results. You can usually see a major difference within the same day.

It is professionally performed by a qualified dental practitioner which should result in the highest quality finish out of all the methods available. The downside is that it is much more expensive.

You could be paying up to $800 for dentist whitening, and you may need mutiple sessions. This is compared to $50 - $80 for other methods. Dental whitening is therefore only suitable for those with a larger budget.

Teeth Whitening Toothpaste

Whitening toothpastes do not contain any bleaching agent however, instead aiming to whiten teeth through cleanliness. Therefore it is probably the least effective method of quickly whitening teeth.

Teeth Whitening Gel Kits

Gel kits are very much similar to in-office dental whitening, except that you are able to perform it in the comfort of your own home.

Whitening gels use a peroxide concentrate applied to the teeth with thin mouth trays. It is important for trays to be well-fitted to keep in the bleaching gel and to ensure even and complete tooth exposure.
